In Berlin, the Pappelhof school welcomes disabled young people. The school is a support center for mental development : the students who are admitted there flourish through various activities: cooking, ceramics, gardening, textile design... Today, we follow a teacher during his beekeeping workshop.
Students learn about the duties of a beekeeper and take care of honey bees. During the year, the tasks vary : expanding the hive, spinning the honey, processing the wax, repairing various materials...
"I have noticed that when students learn by doing, they pick up terms faster."
Each student is able to develop skills. Technical skills, psychological skills. With this beekeeping workshop, young people learn a trade, act for the protection of bees, and develop their sense of autonomy and thinking. Personalized support, as offered by this school, is a solution to help the development of students.
